Aligning Actions with Strategy

A CEO was launching a new strategy to guide the organization’s next three years of strategic growth. With many team members disengaged and unsure of how their work connected to the bigger picture, the leadership team was looking for help with building engagement and aligning actions to this strategic vision.

Our Approach

After consulting with the leadership team to understand the strategic vision and the organizational structure, we determined the missing step was engaging the teams in a conversation about the strategy and inviting input and ideas.

Our first step was to design multiple team engagement sessions, where we helped the leadership team share the strategy and rationale, and invited dialogue with each of the teams about their work and how it supports the strategy, as well as discuss any roadblocks they see to getting there.

This feedback was gathered and used to inform business planning to outline the key priorities for the upcoming year. Through a series of facilitated conversations and engagement series, teams built out their portions of the business plan, identifying their priorities, ownership, timelines and resources required.

To ensure engagement remained a top priority, we worked with the leadership team to define a process for continuous communication and updates, leading to a rolling business planning process involving all teams.
